Glenstone Lends Bontecou Sculpture to Strathmore

Sculptor Lee Bontecou's 1962 piece will be on view in the lobby of the Music Center through March 2014.

A second piece of artwork from the well-known Glenstone collection, founded by Mitchell and Emily Rales in Potomac, has come to the Music Center at Strathmore, near Kensington.

The 1962 piece, Untitled, is by Lee Bontecou, a New York artist known for her pioneering work during the 1960s. The large-scale, wall-mounted sculptural relief, which is made from steel, wood, wire and canvas, will be on display in the lobby of the Music Center through March 2014.

Glenstone’s contribution will be acknowledged at Strathmore’s Spring 2013 Gala, S’Wonderful, S’Marvelous, Strathmore, on April 20.

This latest display builds on the creative partnership that Strathmore and Glenstone announced in 2012. A Keith Haring painting was the first piece from Glenstone unveiled at the Strathmore.
