Here are some fun things to do in or around town this weekend.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

1. Modern Musical Theatre

Kensington Arts Theatre  Presents The Last Five Years.

Where/When:  Kensington Town Hall/Armory building, 3710 Mitchell Street Friday and Saturday, March 4-5, at 8 p.m. Matinee Sunday, March 6, at 3 p.m.

Why Go:  It's a chance to see a contemporary musical that ingeniously chronicles the five-year cycle of a marriage from meeting to break-up. Kensington residents get a break on ticket prices.

Pricing:  General admission is $20; Students and seniors, $17; Kensington residents and children under 13, $13.

2. Mardi Gras Family Fun

Where/When:  200 East Middle Lane (Rockville Town Center), Rockville, MD. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 5

Why Go:  It's a chance to celebrate Mardi Gras ("Fat Tuesday"), the last day before the beginning of Lent in the Christian calendar,  with the family, especially if you didn't get a chance to mark the day itself, which this year fell on March 1. Festivities will include a parade, live music, masks and beads, arts & crafts, and more.

Pricing: Festival admission is free; prices for featured activities will vary.

3. Eastern European/Yiddish Folk Concert 

Sounds of Jewish Heritage Global Mitzvah Concert

Where/WhenTemple Emanuel, 10101 Connecticut Ave, Kensington, MD, March 6 from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Why Go:  It's an opportunity to hear three bands performing songs in Yiddish, Hungarian, Romanian, Bosnian and Slovak languages using a variety of folk instruments. Each band will play a 20 to 25 minute set.

Pricing: A minimum donation of $10 per adult will be collected at the door.
