7th annual Kensington Day of the Book Festival

This afternoon street festival celebrates the International Day of the Book with over 100 local authors, poets, bookartists, small publishers, literary groups, and community organizations set up along Howard Avenue to show and discuss their works.


Featuring authors from the Mystery Writers of America and Sisters in Crime, among many others. Live music featuring The Tommyhawks, Hang-Over Royale with David Kitchen, and Scotty Got Arrested from Stancill's Guitar Studio.

Visitors will enjoy meeting authors and discussing their books; author and poetry readings; live music from a variety of bands and performers; a chess exhibition; rare book evaluations; a watercolor workshop, and much more.

Children's activities include bookmaking, drawing, watercoloring, and other art activities; young storytellers; children's book authors; petting a miniature horse; chess; drawing a superhero; and a literary scavenger hunt. 

 

 

Discover the unique charm of Old Town Kensington and the literary talent of our area.  Co-sponsored by the Town of Kensington and the Pauli Bellet Foundation Catalan Library.  Parking will be available in the neighborhood and a number of parking lots in the town.  Food will be available at established food venues and on the street.
