Patch Makes Mark at Famed 'Cadillac Ranch'

There's something therapeutic about tagging -- especially when it means participating in America's history.

Don't worry, this graffiti is sanctioned. It's even encouraged.

In an appearance outside its "Patch," this Patch P is now a part of the art installation, Cadillac Ranch, outside Amarillo, Texas.

The green letter joins other spray-painted writing by tourists and others visiting the site off Interstate 40 that is home to 10 vintage Cadillacs buried standing on end in the dirt.

It's unclear how long the emblem will stay visible. The graffiti quickly becomes the canvas for the next artist to make the trek out to the field and grab one of the cans of spray paint on the ground nearby.

The Cadillac Ranch, created in 1974, is a major attraction for those traveling the historic Route 66, known as the Mother Road.
