Locals Place in Top 3 in Kensington 8K.

Kensington natives take first in Men's, second in Women's categories.

 

Kensington’s own Steven Moore crossed the finish line first in the men's category of the Kensington 8K Saturday, with a time of 0:27:41.

On the women’s side, Brenda Shrank of Winchester, VA, crossed first with a time of 0:30:41, and Kensington’s Kristen Henehan was second at 0:30:56.

Since 1994, the annual Kensington 8K, 2 Mile Challenge and 1K Fun Runs have offered locals a chance to run through Kensington’s beautiful and historic neighborhood, while raising money for neighborhood schools.

The proceeds from Saturday’s event will support Kensington Parkwood Elementary, North Bethesda Middle School and Walter Johnson High School.

Miles Aitkin of Washington, DC, came in second in the men's division with a time of 0:28:32 and Centerville’s Keith Freeburn placed third at 0:28:37.

In the women's division, Hilary Cairnes of Washington, DC, placed third at 0:32:51.

Prizes also were given to the first place finishers in the Masters (Over 40) category and nine age categories in the Wheelchair division.
