ANNAPOLIS: Murder at High Tide.
Local award winning Annapolis suspense novelist James Schneider, author of well received “In the Shadow of Silver Lake” and “The Highest Burden of the Law,” which each received national awards, has recently published his third novel.
The newest novel, “ANNAPOLIS: Murder at High Tide” is a fictional story about Pat Jackson, a homicide detective with the Annapolis Police Department who nabs a case at the end of an exhausting shift during the hottest days of summer. A bloated body has been discovered floating in Back Creek.
The body has been ravaged by crabs – yet it is obvious that this was no accidental death or suicide – not with two bullet holes in the floater’s forehead. As a rare female detective in the small homicide squad at APD, Jackson’s male counterparts call her a “hot shot” behind her back, possibly because she is the finest investigator of the lot. To her, it is simply her professional obligation, not prestige, which drives her as she investigates what is beginning to look like a local mafia hit.
More bodies show up in this historic seaport city’s creeks and Detective Jackson is determined to solve these cases before any more bodies wash up, including those of her close friend and family. But… Will she?
Schneider, a national award winning novelist and retired local real estate broker draws you into the mysterious lives of people from all walks of life in Annapolis, Maryland. Not just the rich and powerful of the historic district, but also the poor and suppressed that are affected by this killer’s rampage of the lovely city like never before.
The realistic elements will have you holding mental images as you become acquainted with practical characters that you will grow to have feelings for as you whip through this novel.
Schneider has executed another page turner that will engross your holiday at the beach or keep you wanting to read one more chapter before putting the book down for the night. In 2011 he was awarded the SILVER for all Suspense/Murder Mystery/Thrillers by the Independent Publishers Association for “In the Shadow of Silver Lake. 2012 brought his second national award from the Lambda Literary Awards for “The Highest Burden of the Law.”
The book is currently available at Amazon.com under print, Kindle, e-reader versions. Schneider can be reached at “James Schneider, Author” on Facebook.
