This is not a news story. It's just a bunch of bigots. The America you are looking for neverRead More existed, which is a good thing.
Joe Galvagna June 11, 2013 at 03:18 pm
Good comment Costco. I thought you would have to get out if your car to raise the Hood? MaybeRead More eliminate that step and call 911 and just sit tight be safe. Your car is protection in crash.

Struck by vehicle technically is a pedestrian type accident but most are recorded as a number ofRead More other types. It was often a fatality cause for police officers-It's why they now pull off at an angle. Losing engine power hinders brakes, steering, forward motion, etc. Stopped in the travel lane-my advice-Stay In Your Car-kepp your seat belt on. Stopping parallel to a guardrail traps a colliding vehicle into a direct hit to the rear, if you are in front look for an ambulance-you'll need one after the idiot texting rams you. Get on the other side of the rail. Stay there. Watch the video-World's Worst Drivers. Officers with traffic stop-driver comes by sideswipes officer, vehicle stopped-drivers slam police car, sending it into stopped vehicle. Some years ago-first female-black Virginia State Trooper stops to assist bus on Rt 66 -BLAM, driver plows into her -dead on the spot.

We need some relief from the current (not to mention the future) congestion on our roads and BRT isRead More a viable solution. Plus, as Kelly points out in the article, access to BRT includes better walkways and bikeways, so these areas will also be improved as BRT is implemented. It really provides an upgrade to our multi-modal transportation goals. Let's amplify the ways that people can get around!
Captain Cook June 8, 2013 at 03:47 pm
Nope. This is another liberal brain fart. The red line already runs the exact route. Taking awayRead More lanes and peoples property is NOT the answer and the notorious bad projections by 'planners' is evident here. NO BRT, NO more $$$ for feel good ideas that taste like red ink! Grow up and live in the real world.

Comparing cars to buses and claiming there is some analogy between the three as far as pedestrianRead More safety is ridiculous. First, there are millions of cars and thousands of buses. Second, according to the state MVA web site pedestrians are responsible for 70% of all fatalities involving pedestrians being struck by vehicles. If that's true then the analogy is beyond ridiculous, it's simply a falsehood.

Ok - I'll at least share what I've heard: - Rising U15 Girls CASA team moving to Bethesda, possiblyRead More as a third team in that age group. Bethesda finishes their tryouts today so maybe we'll hear more after that. - Rising U15 MSC Extreme was rumored to be disbanding but now seems to have a new coach and manager and advertising for players on the MSC website. - FC Virginia - SYA - CYA story still seems muddled: Who will get those ECNL spots? - Rising U16s MSC Coyotes White may be looking for a new coach (to be confirmed but the rumor is from a fairly reliable source).

Thanks for the memories of our favorite park, Hershey Park in Hershey, PA. The old wooden rollerRead More coaster was also our very favorite. There was also another favorite, much tamer Love Boat ride that went through a dark tunnel and then went up an incline and you got wet at the end of the ride. Visiting the Hershey Chocolate Factory was also a must on our trip to Hershey. We grew up in nearby York, PA.
Jean Winegardner June 5, 2013 at 05:54 pm
Oooh, that Love Boat ride sounds really fun! We didn't see that one. We definitely had quite anRead More experience there!

Going to Hershey Park had been a yearly event when we took our own three children to Hershey Park.Read More They loved it there, too. All three of our children are now married and have taken their children to Hershey Park. We have also been to Hershey, PA to the famous Hershey Car Show, where we purchased a 1994 Chrysler LeBaron convertible. I enjoyed reading your article.

I searched and found your facebook page that seems to show the exact farmer's market location. WasRead More going to ask, but will just post the info here for the benefit of others. Wheaton Farmers Market 2425 Reedie Drive Wheaton, Maryland 20902 In addition to the free parking mentioned above, this location is in "Wheaton Triangle" only steps away from the Wheaton Metro station.

Here's the problem: The Fourth Amendment makes enforcement a real pain in the neck. This is notRead More unique to accessory apts, but applies to any house turned into a rooming house illegally. Sure, you can start out with a legal accessory apt, but when you retire to Florida, and leave behind a bunch of college kids in your house, it's very difficult to prove a violation. Hard to get a warrant. Hard to do anything if when the authorities come to the door, you don't let them in. So, the best answer is to not start down this road in the first place. Keep single family homes single.

I agree with you that you could end up with a terrible tenant but this is true of any rentalRead More property, illegal or legal. As the article mentions, there are lots of good reasons for having a legal accessory apartment. By getting the proper approvals, you not only avoid problems with county officials, you also get the back up of the court system when tenant issues arise. If you are going to be out of town, I strongly urge you and anyone else to seek the services of an experience property manager. They should be able to handle any of the issues you mentioned plus a whole lot more. Then again, being a landlord of an accessory apartment, or any other property for that matter, isn't for everyone.

Cori, you have no idea how much this helps. I just found out some of the details about the Geo BowlRead More and it sounds like a much better situation for my kiddo than I was originally imagining. I'm going to reach out to the team tonight. I imagine that they will be receptive to my worries. I'm hoping that all of the worst case scenarios are in my head and only in my head, which is probably likely. :) Maybe I'll see you at the Geo Bowl!
vero May 23, 2013 at 02:57 pm
Priming is key. You can also show him video on similar bowls. Pretend at home with family afterRead More finding out more or less how it will go the day of event. Encourage and prime/prep. How wonderful that he has come so far!
Jean Winegardner May 25, 2013 at 02:26 am
Great tips! And actually, thank you very much for the reminder that he has come really far. You'reRead More so right. And I'm so proud of him!

With teachings like this Islam is sure to integrate successfully into any society: [Qur'an 5:9] ORead More ye who believe! be steadfast in the cause of Allah, bearing witness in equity; and let not a people’s enmity incite you to act otherwise than with justice. Be always just, that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah. Surely, Allah is aware of what you do. [Qur'an 4:136] "O ye who believe! be strict in observing justice, and be witnesses for Allah, even though it be against yourselves or against parents and kindred. Whether he be rich or poor, ..." [Qur'an 16:91] "Verily, Allah enjoins justice, and the doing of good to others; and giving like kindred; and forbids indecency, and manifest evil, and wrongful transgression. He admonished you that you may take heed." Moreover, with Muslims like this it should be a peace of cake to integrate: Muslimsforlife(dot)org - successfully collected 10,000 pints of blood to honor 3,000 dead of 9/11 (by saving 30,000 lives. Muslimsforpeace(dot)org - condemning terrorism, promoting Islamic value of loyalty to ones nation, peace, bus-ads and flyers and leaflets to promote the same.

No you're right jag how could I be so foolish. All we're doing is adjusting for inflation....ofRead More course. Owe'malley's campaign theme for 2016 can be "let me do to America what I've done to Maryland". According to your link MD is still in the highest 25% of states in taxes. Taxes don't rise with inflation like goods and services do for your information. If that were the case they could only go up and never down. Or maybe that's the way you want it.
jag May 23, 2013 at 06:31 pm
Amark, you appear to be confused. "Taxes don't rise with inflation like goods and services doRead More for your information." No, when they are a percentage, they don't need to rise with inflation. However, when a tax is a set $ amount, e.g. a 20 cent fuel tax, the buying power of that 20 cents continues to degrade, over time, according to the rise in inflation. Hence the need to raise the tax from time to time (20 years was far too long to wait). Alternatively, you can simply peg the tax to inflation so it automatically adjusts, which is what the GA (smartly) decided to do this time around. Get it now?
