What Do You Want To See in White Flint?

Second public design meeting set for tomorrow.

Last year, the Montgomery County Council approved a plan to redevelop the area around the White Flint Metro stop, and now they want to hear what public amenities residents want in the area.

At 7 p.m. tomorrow, County General Services is hosting a design charette at the Walter Johnson High School cafeteria in Bethesda.

At a meeting June 1, residents offered their suggestions for possible amenities, and planners will further the conversation tomorrow, presenting conceptual designs based on resident input.

The sector plan, embedded in this article, calls for mixed-use development, combining commercial and residential spaces and encouraging foot traffic. The plan also suggests building such public amenities as a library, a recreation center and a satellite regional services center.

For more information on the project, visit the Department of General Services website.
