Talking During Film Sparks Fight at Bethesda Row Cinema

A man allegedly shoved another moviegoer during a film at the Bethesda Row Cinema Christmas Day, according to Montgomery County Police.
The fight erupted after two men got in a verbal dispute over talking during the movie, according to Montgomery County Police spokeswoman Officer Janelle Smith.
A 27-year-old man shoved the victim, a 31-year-old man, Smith said.
Police responded to the theater shortly before 11 p.m. Dec. 25 for the report of an assault, Smith said.
The man wasn’t arrested or formally charged, but a police report was written, Smith said.
The victim could decide to press assault charges against the suspect, Smith said. It wasn’t clear whether or not the man had been charged.
A movie theater representative had no comment on the incident and referred a call from Patch to a Landmark spokeswoman, who didn't immediately return a call for comment.

Anybody who talks during a movie should be asked to stop by management. and if he does not stop he should be escorted out with no refund. Movie theaters should post rules #1 no talking during movie or suffer ejection. When you pay for tickets to a movie you want to watch and hear the movie not some disrespectful ass hole.

The problem for moviegoers is that if one leaves the theater during a movie to search for management, they obviously may miss a good portion of the film. Paying customers are not prone to want to do this.

It is management's responsibility to assure that people who can't stop talking or making comments during the movie either keep quiet or escorted out. Ticket prices are high enough to get some supervision during the film.

Back in the 1950's and early 60's when I was growing up this was routinely
done by the ushers. No questions asked, no quibling by anyone!!!

It is the theatre's job to ask people to stop talking, however, the theaters that I attend never have monitors in them, but rather the moviegoers are left to fend for themselves, I guess that's how bootleg movies are made.

Bootleg or not its still so rude and disrespectful. I ages with all the comments made here. Maybe some stimulus money should go to hire ushers. Maybe start diversion to get theater to stop and rewind move and eject the talker.No excuse for talking during a movie. Shut up and enjoy movie or take it outsde. Its not only the lowclass that do this but some that think they are high class and need not show any respect for anyone else. There are many of these in Bethesda. Maybe have one theater for talkers.

Get an usher. Be a consumer. Purchase your tickets with a credit card. If they do not take care of the problem immediately, get a refund. If they refuse, dispute the charge on your credit card. You didn't get what you paid for.

Hey Frank Martinsville never just a county that looks out for the working people not special interests and entitlements or illegals. I feel if you are not willing to work for it you do not deserve to have it. I willingly gave 32 years of my life in the service of this country and I object to people that have never done anything with there hands out lookng for free stuff. What have you done Frank? I have not run into this problem a lot in DC Theatres. I also do not overreact. Last time to the talkking got out of hand I asked the person politely could he keep it down. He gave me an odd look, but did not say anything for rest of show. If person was not right in front of me not sure how I would have handled it.
