The Chevy Chase Land Company has a new vice president of public affairs: Miti Figueredo, the company announced on Monday, Jan. 7.

"We are very happy Miti will be part of our leadership team," David M. Smith, president of the Chevy Chase Land Company, said in a statement.

"Her background in federal and local government and community relations will be an asset to us, especially as we move forward with the Chevy Chase Lake project," he added.

Before joining the company, Figueredo served as the east county regional services director. She also worked at the Montgomery County Council for several years, first as senior legislative aide to Council Member Roger Berliner on land use and transportation policy, and then as chief of staff to Montgomery County Council President Nancy Navarro, according to a Chevy Chase Land Company statement.

"I am thrilled to be working with the [Chevy Chase] Land Company's management team on issues I care about so deeply," Figueredo—a graduate of Northwestern University School of Law—said in a statement.

"I look forward to continued collaboration with residents to ensure the Chevy Chase Lake project will be a beautiful and vibrant community gathering place for many years to come," she added.

Figueredo replaces Lisa Fadden, who was hired by the company in August 2011, according to The Gazette. Fadden left the company last fall, Bethesda Now reported.

Fadden had been brought on by the company "to be its public face and help shepherd its controversial proposal to build a large mixed-use development at Chevy Chase Lake," Bethesda Magazine reported in its profile about her.

Fadden started a blog for the land company in January 2012 to help give residents a better idea about the Chevy Chase Lake development, and to give residents an additional forum for communicating with the company. The blog has been updated with new posts since Fadden's departure from the company.
