Kensington Hosts Model Train Event
The event will benefit Noyes Children's Library Foundation and the Kensington Historical Society.
Whether you're a model train enthusiast or just looking for some family fun, you're invited to the Town of Kensington and the National Capital Trackers and their model train display on Sept. 8 and Sept. 9.
The display will features miles of track, model towns and steaming trains that will take up the entire auditorium of the Kensington Armory located at town hall.
“The model train exhibition is an opportunity for folks of all ages to come out and see fantastic live action displays while also helping with two wonderful Kensington community nonprofits: The Kensington Historical Society and the Noyes Children’s Library Foundation,” said Mayor Peter C. Fosselman. “Both of these organizations bring so much to our town, and the train event helps with funds to keep them operating.”
On Sunday, singer and master storyteller Matthew Dodd will perform train songs and tell stories.
Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children and $10 for families. Military families will be admitted free of charge with valid ID. Food from the local Boy Scout troop #439 and JennyCakes Bakery will be available for purchase.
The event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
