The Bloomingdale's in the White Flint Mall will be among the stores that Macy's, Inc. will close across the country this spring, Capital Business reported Wednesday.
Macy's, Inc. plans to close four Bloomingdale's stores and five Macy's stores nationally, according to Capital Business.
The closings are a part of the company's plan to “selectively prune underperforming locations," Macy's chairman, president and chief executive Terry J. Lundgren said in a statement, Capital Business reported.
The White Flint Bloomingdale’s opened in 1977 and has 158 associates, according to Capital Business. Associates will be offered positions at nearby stores "where possible," Capital Business reported, citing a company press release.
Closing sales are set to begin Jan. 10 and are expected to last about 10 weeks.

You bused, not bussed (unless you kissed), the tables.
The Post ran a story once about a woman or women who spent the day and night at WF, shopping, eating and going to movies. It was once the cat's meow.

Great memories of White Flint, or 'The Flint' as my friends came to call it. I was a senior in high school and got a job for a couple weeks working to stock the I. Magnin store ahead of its opening (something done in the middle of the night for security/anti-theft reasons), and working the actual grand opening gala evening event. Carol Channing was the guest of honor! HA! I'll never forget seeing her walk through the store surrounded by her handlers, wearing a huge mink coat.
Who remembers what was there before White Flint?! Go G.E.M.! And what did that stand for??
